The conference was absolutely amazing – what you achieved is incredible

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to real life in salon stories  - it made me realize that even the experts have the same issues as other salon owners!!

And you make a valid point re other business conferences that are too busy selling their own products to really be providing the owner with real business knowledge

I went to one of these in September last year and will certainly never be going to another one!!

So a big thank you to you  -  for managing to get so many amazing achievers in the one room and inspiring us – the small business owner -  to reach our potential

We just wanted to send you a very quick email to thank you and Santina for an excellent job organizing the SalonBiz07 conference!

Both Margaret and I left the conference with a real purpose and direction on some key areas – building systems to ensure we provide consistent quality service for our clients, and making a more fun environment for our staff.

And that’s just the start !

We found the speakers were just absolutely amazing, full of life experiences and simple but effective strategies to move ahead with their business. It is a feather in your cap to be able to bring such talented and gifted people in our industry together to share their knowledge.

And what really set the conference apart from other “supposed” hair conferences was the fact you weren’t lured into buying a system or package. All out there and easy to understand.

What makes us really excited is being able to learn and listen, with the chance to do this again potentially next year. In fact it must have been hard to fit all the speakers in to just one day – we would welcome the chance to listen to them speak longer maybe over a 2 day conference and pay extra to do that.

Again – well done !
   As Lee Cohen said – stop with the excuses and just get in there and do it!

What an amazing day I had. I would like to thank-you for pulling all together

I was taken back with how humble most of the speakers where. I was also amazed at their honesty and ability to share some of there business’s “point of difference”. 

Finally the Hairdressing industry has grown up and moved into another world to support one another and value the individual and team If we all pull together I believe we can change the industry to protect ourselves from a sub culture of uneducated backyarder’s!  Empower ourselves with systems and procedures is the way to go

I have already started to implement some ideas, I will let you know the out come. The one thing I now know is to raise the bar and get a better business sense.

On behalf of Emily and myself I just wanted to say thanks for the great experience that SalonBiz was.  I must admit, being a non-hairdresser I was a little afraid of the tone the conference might take, but that did not eventuate. 

Last night, after we had found a place to have something to eat, we finished up going back to our hotel and sitting up till 3.00am this morning unwinding and talking about the things we had heard.  We spoke most of the way back in the car about what we were going to do and how we are going to do it, even missing turnoffs.  We have a new vision statement and I am working on a modified aim for our business plan to reflect the information and ideas we ingested.

I am sitting in our Weston salon doing interrogating SmallBiz to see what my retail sales have been and what we might do to improve them. If there was one thing that crystallized my thoughts about retail it was Kelly’s presentation.  While I might not expect the results that she does, I can see the obvious benefits.  The profit from the fifteen bottles that Sharon Blain spoke about goes a long way to paying a first year apprentices wage, which is the way I am going to present it to my staff.

While all of the presenters and their sessions were great, I was particularly impressed with Dennis Langford and Lee Cohen.  Listening to Peter Morrissey speak was a real buzz.  If I had one criticism it was the way the program was delayed by late arrivals and hence presenters were forced to hurry to finish.  Shut the doors and send them in the back way.

Being someone who has come from outside the industry and seeking knowledge in an informative way. I want to thank you for a fantastic seminar yesterday, (and for all the hard work that you and your team put into in the lead up to it) I would also like to thank you for taking a couple of minutes out of your hectic day to have a brief chat with me. I was not at my best as I had been out for a bucks night on Saturday night and was feeling flat as a tack in the morning when I arrived. The seminar certainly recharged my batteries.

The seminar was everything you said it would be and more! Great line up & variety of speakers, excellent host, great location fantastic atmosphere!

It was fantastic seeing the leaders of the industry from around the country, giving up their Sunday, up on stage, in the spotlight and being informative, friendly, funny as well as willing to share insights & ideas into their own success stories. Having people from outside of the industry giving a perspective from their world looking in was great. All presenters being approachable during the intermissions on a 1 to 1 basis was excellent. As I said coming from outside the industry and seeking knowledge, for me it was fantastic. I hope you give yourself and your team a large pat on your backs as you guys deserve it!!! Congratulations on a hard job extremely well done.

The Question and Answer session to wrap up was great, and this I believe, everyone should have hung around for as some of the "meatier issues" facing the industry now and into the future as a whole were discussed.

I look forward to attending future events and to the forums on the website. The concept of having Mentors available is BRILLIANT. I have been servicing the public in an entirely different field for 20plus years and I can say that I wish there had been something similar out their when I was starting out. I will be a keen observer of the forums as well as being an active member and gleaning as much knowledge as I can from the ideas and experiences of others.  

Thank you once again to you and all your team, the presenters that you had organised and to every one who attended for making it the day it was!!

Wow,  I just had to email you and say a huge WELL DONE on organising the best business event of the year. I was buzzing all day, being in a room with all the incredible speakers and my peers, listening to all the amazing advice and experiences from industry people.

I am sitting writing this email from home, (salon is closed today) and am making changes to my business and i'm going to be in the small % of salon owners who will do something with all the incredible information I received yesterday.

I was also wondering if you are planning to release the recording on DVD ? I would certainly purchase a copy if it were offered at a reasonable cost, to go back over later.

I took 14 pages of notes during the day and evening and I'm sure I still missed some things.

Like many of your prospects, I expect, the outline of your ambitious day looked 'too good to be true' & appeared SO out of character & such terrific value vs. most other industry 'dos' that I thought 'this may not work'.  Plus I didn't know you or your organisation, seen @ expo but again I thought 'what are they after' etc!

However...  it was the exceptional quality of your panel or presenters and relevance/difference of the program that hooked me and the same quality ON THE DAY that kept me riveted as with my 3 staff.  We all raved about it as I have to my management team.

Brad hit a chord when he mentioned "Dont Buck with my Dream" Luvd it.  Also the other speakers (both BALD BLOKES) kept me engaged with their talk, both very charming and funny.

Hi Ken,

Had a great time at SalonBiz on the weekend even though our 7am Sunday morning flight was delayed then cancelled and we didn't arrive until 1.20pm so we missed the first half of the program.

Nevertheless, we came back home Tuesday morning after the Toni and Guy launch the night before and since then have had a staff meeting, rearranged the salon, ordered more retail, spring cleaned, organised the floor to be stripped and re-sanded and the salon painted over the Xmas break....... plus more.

We're on a roll and our "hot" button and been pushed yet again,
so thanks!

Thoroughly enjoyed SalonBiz 07 and came away with renewed faith and vigor to present to my students.

It was splendid to have speakers who were prepared to share their experiences with us, especially the ones where their earlier marketing ideas had not always been a success, but they had continued to persevere to be where they are today. They all had their own experiences to share which made it more realistic to today’s issues in the Industry. Probably not enough time available in the day, maybe handouts would have helped or availability to purchase CD/DVD of the content.

Overall, great success in bringing business education to the hairdressing industry.
